New Buffalo, Michigan

In the team's home town of New Buffalo, Michigan, demonstrations have been done periodically to teach local residents, as well as visitors, how to build solar heat collectors.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In addition to the work done to educate others on how to build the collectors, grants have given the ability to install and assemble the collectors for homes in the area. Some houses that were a part of the Building Trades classes have also had solar heat collectors installed on them.

 

Yakatut, Alaska

In April of 2013, our instructor and science teacher of the year Mr. Eberly, traveled to Yakatut Alaska to teach the residents and students of the small town how to build the solar heat collectors. Prior to his trip our team assembled videos and instructions on how to construct the collectors, and these were a crucial to the trip's success.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Three Oaks, Michigan

A presentation will be made at the Three Oaks Rotary club at 7 am on Friday February 14, 2014.

 

Lansing, Michigan

A presentation will be made during the 61st Annual Michigan Science Teachers Association Conference "Pure Michigan Science-Bridges to the Next Generation" about the usage and benefits of Solar Heat Collectors.

 

Buchanan, Michigan

A demonstration for the construction of a solar heat collector on March 29, 2014, at Fernwood Botanical Garden. 

 

 

 

 

This live feed is a live montioring of a solar heat collector. It is achieved by using  a circuit assembled by one of our community members, Mr. Kissman, and it monitors collectors that are installed on his house. It is a circuit comprised of an XBee radio connected to an Arduino board, then programmed using the code provided underneath the live feed.
